* MTV COULD BE FINED FOR "ALI G SPEAK"
MTV could be facing a fine over remarks made at the recent MTV Europe Awards
by its presenter, Ali G. The ITC are now reviewing the show. Ali described
Atomic Kitten as "slappers" and called Dido "Dildo" (Quite accurate so far, I would've thought... - Ed), before also making references to an incident involving Boris Becker, a waitress, and a cupboard. The show was broadcast live on MTV; it's claimed that the
channel's executives decided not to demand prior approval of the script used
by Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays Ali. His spokeswoman told reporters: "It's a
character. He's supposed to be a rapper from Staines. None of the language
he uses is ever bad language it's just Ali G speak."
* AMAZING... PILOTS...
Easy!Tiger's latest signings have announced a new date in addition to their month long residency at Twisted am Lounge @ The Windmill in Brixton. As well as the last night of the residency on Sunday December 9th, the band are now playing Upstairs At The Garage on Wednesday November 28th.
Their first single is due out at the start of next year...

in August aged 75. The song is called 'Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your
Own.'

Boy George's musical, Taboo, will finally be opening at a venue in South

*BUCK AIR RAGE TRIAL CONTINUES
The trial of REM guitarist Peter Buck has been taking place in London this
week. The court was told yesterday that Buck turned into "Mr Hyde" after
downing 15 glasses of wine on the flight from Seattle to Heathrow. The court
also heard that the guitarist was reeling along the aisles, got stuck
between two seats and covered both himself and the cabin services manager
with yoghurt. He also allegedly overturned a trolley, sending food and drink
across the floor - and when the captain presented him with a warning 'yellow
card', he tore it up. He allegedly announced: "I am REM and I can make up a
story that I was assaulted." He denies charges of being drunk on an
aircraft, two counts of common assault, and one charge of damaging British
Airways property.
* STOP PRESS: GREEN DAY DEMOS POSTED ON WEBSITE
Three roughly-recorded Greenday songs have been posted on the official
Greenday.net website. The songs were recorded on a four-track in the basement of
the singer/guitarist Billy Joe Armstrong. The songs (untitled) are posted
as 'recent headlines.' Another two previously unreleased tracks also appear
on the Greatest Hits Compilation, 'International Superhits,' which is
accompanied by a video.
* OZZY BREAKS LEG, DOESN'T NOTICE FOR A WEEK
Ozzy Osbourne has had to postpone 10 gigs after breaking his leg although
in true rock'n'roll style, he didn't realise he'd broken it until a week
after he fell getting out of the shower. He had continued to perform with a
fractured leg until the pain became unbearable, at which point he saw a
doctor who told him to stop touring. An announcement about rescheduled dates
is expected soon.
* CHARLATANS: LONDON INSTORE SIGNING AND NEW ALBUM
The Charlatans have confirmed that they will be making a special instore
appearance at HMV, Covent Garden, on Tuesday November 20. All the band will
be there to sign copies of their single, 'A Man Needs To Be Told', which is
released on Monday.
The band are also reportedly releasing a compilation album next year,
entitled 'Songs From The Other Side'. The album is reportedly being put
together by their former label, Beggars Banquet, to whom they were signed
before moving to current label Universal. Full details remain uncertain,
however the band revealed in a webchat with dotmusic that the album could
include rarities such as live recordings and B-sides.
* DMX SESSION WITH DURST POSTPONED
Plans for Rapper DMX and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst to work together
came to a halt after DMX suffered an asthma attack in Atlanta rehearsing for
a sate on his 'Hoodstock' Tour. He has now returned to New York and is ready
for a rescheduled recording session with Durst, which will hopefully take
place before the Thanksgiving holiday.
* MANSON TO WRITE SCORE FOR RESIDENT EVIL
Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson is to write the score for the forthcoming
'Resident Evil' movie. Manson, who is currently writing songs for his new
album, has revealed to reporters that the music will be more electronic than
his usual material. 'Resident Evil' is based on the computer game of the
same name, and stars Mila Jovovich as Alice, the Zombie Killer. It is due
for release in the US in April next year.
This follows the news that Manson is also contributing a version of Soft Cell's 'Tainted Love' to the soundtrack for 'Not Another Teen Movie'. The soundtrack consists entirely of covers of 80's songs, and also features Muse's cover of The Smiths' 'Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want'.
Marilyn Manson is currently working on the follow-up to last year's 'Holy Wood...' album.
* POP IDOL JUDGE RECEIVES HATE MAIL AND CRANK CALLS
Pop Idol's famous nasty judge, Simon Cowell, has received hate mail
following his comments about the show's contestants. Cowell, who is an
executive at BMG, says he has received sackloads of threats at his London
office. He has also had numerous crank phonecalls, and told the Sun that he
is thinking of stepping up security. His famous harsh put-downs have
included, "You sound like Mickey Mouse on helium", "Are you serious? You
can't sing. You can't dance", and "I'm afraid to say that really hurt my
ears."
* NME TOUR LINE-UP: ANDREW WK NOW "NEW" AND A "BAND", APPARENTLY
The 80s-style apparent 'saviour of rock'n'roll' that everyone loves to hate,

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Coral. It starts at the Ambassador's
Theatre in Dublin on January 26, and takes in venues in Newcastle, Wolverhampton,

* KID ROCK IN 'COCKY' SHOCK
The second studio album from Kid Rock is to be released on 20 November.
This will be Kid Rock's first album of new material since 'Devil Without A
Cause', which was released three years ago. He states the reasons for the
delay as "girls, money and trying to have fun". 'Cocky' features no
contribution from Kid Rock's midget sidekick, Joe C, who died last year
before work on the album had started. The Kid Rock tour will start next
year. Rock is adamant that ticket prices are to be kept down for the fans,
who "work very hard for their money."
