FESTIVAL UPDATES: Bloodstock 2010 last minute changes, Fear Factory, Cathedral, Sonisphere, Soundwave - Ruth MidgetFESTIVAL UPDATES: Bloodstock 2010 last minute changes, Fear Factory, Cathedral, Sonisphere, Soundwave 12:43am, 12 Aug 2010

Before we break our coding exile with a trip to Bloodstock Festival, there's just for some updates on that and the rest of the festival gossip...

Last minute changes to Bloodstock Open Air 2010 this weekend. Firstly Behemoth have stepped down, after Nergal was rushed to hospital for an undisclosed condition. Click here for the full statement. October File will also be cancelling after frontman Ben Hollyer aggravated an abdominal injury at Sonisphere Knebworth. Get well soon to the both of them!

The good news is that none other than Cathedral, who recently announced plans for their 20th anniversary shindig in December, will be stepping up to fill in. Winterfylleth replace Octoebr File.

In addition Fear Factory still appear to be going ahead with their European festival dates after this bus fire in Northamptonshire. While the blaze closed two lanes of the motorway, noone was hurt, and their gear trailer was undamaged by the incident - though it seems they had a luck escape, since "the bus is just a metal frame on the side of the road".

Meanwhile, forty fans were injured at Sonisphere Finland last weekend, when the festival experienced what organisers are calling "a tornado-like "weather event"". The second stage was declared unsafe, after one of the ground supports for the lighting, sound and roof collapsed; while Alice Cooper's equipment truck was hit by the Main stage's Sonisphere backdrop. Iggy Pop performed an acoustic set, while some of Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper's gear was supplemented by Slayer's kit.

Soundwave 2011 are getting in there early with a huge list of already confirmed bands, including Iron Maiden, 30 Seconds To Mars, Primus, The Gaslight Anthem, Melvins and many more. The touring festival takes place across 26th February - 7th March. Click here for all the details.

And don't forget, our very own Alice in Metaland Ruth Midget will be tweeting all weekend from Bloodstock 2010. Follow all the action, including Gojira, Devin Townsend, Fear Factory and more at @rockmidgets.

Young Guns member taken to hospital from Sonisphere? 1:18pm, 2 Aug 2010

Getting reports in from Sonisphere this morning that one member of Young Guns was taken to hospital last night. Adam from The Casino Brawl had reportedly picked up the band member and accidentally cracked his head on the ceiling of a tent. The band member was subsequently taken to hospital for examination of the injury. More when we have the details.

UPDATE: From the band's press officer - "Johns OK, he did split his head open, and needed it treating, but it was all done on site. He's fine this morning, just going to have a small scar I think."

This evening the Kerrang! Awards 2010 took place in London. Wins included...

Trash Talk - Best International Newcomers (good call!).

Frank Turner - The No Half Measures award (again, good call!).

Lostprophets - Classic Songwriter. What? Granted they have some great tunes, but still...

Biffy Clyro - Best Video for 'The Captain'. Good single, but better than Cancer Bats' 'Sabotage'? Not sure about this one.

30 Seconds To Mars - Best International Band (This award simply has no competition - their fans are way too organised for anyone else to nab this!).

Ronnie James Dio and Paul Gray nab Kerrang Icon and Services To Metal awards respectively (good call and sensible choice).

FFAF frontman goes back to his roots - Ruth MidgetFFAF frontman goes back to his roots 1:32am, 30 Jul 2010

I know, blah blah blah, but this time we aren't talking about some blurb on a press release.

Way back before he met the boys in Funeral For a Friend, and before he ran his own record store in his hometown of Maesteg, Matthew Davies (as he was back then) was known as a zine writer, particularly noted for his own Third Engine publication.

Recently, he's been doing the occasional post on his own online blog Hateface, to a lot of positive feedback. Now he's planning issue #1 of a full print run under the same name.

At the moment, 28 pages in glorious technicolour (ok, I added that bit, but it is in colour) are currently being considered for a print run. No due date as yet, but we'll keep you informed.

Rumours are RM's Editor will also be announcing details of the debut album from Monkeypirate in the next few weeks.

Funeral For A Friend headline the Bohemia Stage this Sunday (1st August) at Sonisphere Knebworth, their final show with guitarist Darran Smith.

GWAR plan entirely unrelated Bloody Pit Of Horror, honest - Ruth MidgetGWAR plan entirely unrelated Bloody Pit Of Horror, honest 12:46am, 30 Jul 2010

GWAR have revealed the title of their new album is Gwar's Bloody Pit Of Horror. It's an entirely different bloody pit of horror to the Italian Horror classic, though. Because it's theirs.

"Our new album is called Bloody Pit of Horror. We are fully aware that there is a movie of the same title, I assure you it has nothing to do with it, save the title, which we stole from them. But you see, we’re calling it 'GWAR’s Bloody Pit of Horror', and that’s a little different, so hopefully we won’t get sued!"

It's out on Metal Blade in the Autumn. Click here for more details.

*UPDATED* New Jesu on the way? - Ruth Midget*UPDATED* New Jesu on the way? 1:04am, 29 Jul 2010

Well, not so much rumours, but a Very Large Cat has been let out of an otherwise secure bag, courtesy of the Hydra Head label.

Earlier, the label tweeted: "Listening to new JESU as we open a package with the new GRIDLINK...its moments like this where we really really really like what we do."

When questioned over whether they meant recent reissues, another tweet said: "No, the JESU that comes out 11/16. Consider this a news leak..."

And indeed you should, since the only two Justin Broadrick releases I'm aware of are the Pale Sketcher album on 24th August, and The Unearthing collaboration with Alan Moore, Mike Patton, Stuart Braithwaite et al, which is out now.

UPDATED Ah, here we go...

"JESU 'Heart Ache & Dethroned' 2xCD/2xLP/Digital out 11/16 (we haven't announced it yet, so don't tell anyone!)"

Dethroned will feature previously unreleased stuff from 2003.
