Pentothal
"The West Coast EP"

review by Ruth

Some of you may remember Pentothal from a split 7" on North Pole Sound Lab Recordings with Magnetic North Pole. Thier contribution, Coda/Scared Of Girls, not one that they have been most proud of in terms of production.and at the start of this home-recorded demo you get the feeling again that they haven't quite taken advanntage of the opportunities before them - T Shuffle cries out for better production. But get a little further in and you realise why they're worth it. '3 Months' is barely perceptible at first, but then they pick up the bag they've been dragging around the floor and start swinging it about. then there's the astoundingly perfect 'Think Too Much (The Wrong Thing)', a simple acoustic paeon with telephone vocals hidden behind the repeated wrong number message. And these two alone are all the evidence you need. Give Pentothal a studio and they'll give you their heart.

4.5/5
